All Stevenson Acrylic Paints are rated as “Professional Artist Quality” and are manufactured with 100% acrylic emulsion. The pigments used in their manufacture are composed of traditional inorganic and modern organic pigments, all possessing a high degree of lightfastness. Only high-strength, permanent pigments are used in their formulation. STEVENSON Acrylic MediumsVarnish – Gloss & MatteThis removable, acrylic varnish dries to a gloss or matte finish. The tough film provided by this varnish protects the painting surface from dust, dirt and surface abrasion. This protective varnish may be thinned with water (not exceeding 35%) and should be used as a final topcoat only – not to be mixed with other mediums or paints. Not for exterior use. It can be removed with household ammonia (5% solution) diluted with water. This varnish must be removed before over-painting. Acrylic Medium – Gloss & MatteThese liquid mediums are made with the same 100% acrylic emulsion used in our acrylic paints. They can used to thin and extend acrylic colours. Acrylic mediums dry to a clear, flexible, insoluble, non-yellowing film. Both mediums make excellent adhesives for collage and craft work. The addition of fumed silica to the matte medium imparts an even, matte finish. Acrylic Gel Medium – Gloss & MatteThese gel mediums are made with the same 100% acrylic emulsion used in our acrylic paints. Although milky-white in the wet stage these homogeneous, pigment-free mediums dry to a clear, flexible, insoluble, non-yellowing film. They can be used to extend and increase the transparency of our paints, to build low relief or applied topically, as soft textured glazes. The addition of fumed silica to the matte gel imparts an even, matte finish. Both mediums make excellent glues for craft and collage work. Impasto GelThis high-solids, 100% acrylic, gel medium is unsurpassed in its ability to provide the painter with ultra heavy textures, that retain sharp edges and high peaks upon drying. This gel medium dries to form a clear, flexible, insoluble, high-relief surface. GessoStevenson's Acrylic Gesso is a versatile ground, that provides a dependable painting foundation for both acrylic and oil paints. This creamy, 100% acrylic gesso can be applied to a suitable substrate, using brush or roller – either straight from the container or thinned with acrylic mediums or water to achieve the desired consistency. Never apply to an oily or greasy surface as adhesion is unreliable. Upon drying, this gesso remains flexible and absorbent. When used as a ground for oil paints, several coats should be applied. Modeling PasteThis acrylic paste, containing calcium carbonate, can be used to create surface texture and relief. It dries to an opaque, grey-white, matte finish. It can be added to gesso or paints to create rougher textures. Acrylic RetarderAcrylic Retarder when mixed with acrylic paint extends the drying time of the paint, thus giving artists more time to blend or manipulate their palette. Retarder medium is clear, colourless, and imparts a smooth creamy consistency when mixed with acrylic paints. Acrylic Retarder has no binding properties of its own and should only be used in conjunction with other acrylic film formers. |
